I don’t really enjoy receiving gifts (I know, what’s up with that?) but I loooooove making cards and gifts for others. My Christmas works are a mix of traditions I grew up with and new customs learned when I lived in Denmark. Danish Christmas is less gift-oriented and very heavy on food preparation and sharing of drinks and songs and stories and hyggeligt evenings surrounded by family and friends. Hyggeligt is a difficult word to translate. It means something along the lines of that cozy, warm, safe, happy feeling you get when you’re content with everything and surrounded by people you care about who feel the same. The holidays are usually very hyggeligt for most of us, I think.
